TalkWay
Community rules

Talk freely.
Treat people well.

These rules apply in every TalkWay room. They keep private, live voice rooms safe for everyone in them, and explain what we do when someone breaks them.

Adults only

TalkWay is only for people aged 18 or older. Before the first room, the app asks you to confirm your age and to accept these rules together with the Terms of Service. We never ask for a date of birth or an ID document. If we learn that someone under 18 is using TalkWay, we restrict their access.

What is not allowed

TalkWay has zero tolerance for harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech, sexual abuse, illegal activity, or other abusive behavior. Users who violate these rules may be removed or permanently restricted.

Your nickname must follow these rules too. TalkWay automatically refuses nicknames with objectionable words, staff names or invisible characters.

What you can do in every room

These options are behind the ••• button next to each person. The host can also mute someone for everyone, remove them so they cannot rejoin that room, close the room to new participants, or end it for everyone.

How to report, and what a report contains

Report from the room with the ••• button, or after leaving from Safety & Support, where rooms from the last three days are listed. Choose a reason and, if you like, describe what happened. You get a reference such as TW-7KQ2M4 to quote if you contact us.

TalkWay never records, transcribes or stores the conversation, so a report contains your account and basic technical context only: which room, which participants and when. The person you report is not told who reported them.

How we respond

Our moderation team reviews every report within 24 hours, and reports of threats, sexual misconduct or danger first. Because there is no recording, a report is an allegation: we weigh it against its technical context and any earlier reports before acting.

Blocks and restrictions are tied to a pseudonymous ID of an installation of the app, so they are strong but not unbreakable: someone who reinstalls TalkWay may start with a new one. Trying to get around them breaks these rules.

If someone is in danger

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (112 in the European Union). TalkWay is not an emergency service and cannot locate anyone.

Questions and appeals

To add detail to a report, ask about it, or appeal a restriction you think is a mistake, email [email protected] with the report reference or the safety ID shown in the app under Safety & Support. A moderator reviews every appeal. How we handle report data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
